Sergio joined Merlin Works at the Improv 101 level during our Winter 2022 session. Other than a few workshops, he’s never taken improv before.
Sergio was raised in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, just across the border from El Paso, TX. He moved to the U.S. when he was 15 years old. His bi-cultural background made him aware of different ways of being funny and entertaining.
“It also allows me to identify things that seem normal for a culture but interesting/different/ridiculous in another,” he wrote in his application for the scholarship.
Sergio joins Merlin Works for the next level in our Improv series — Improv 201. We look forward to seeing how his perspective informs his comedy choices!
About Merlin Works Diversity Scholarships
Merlin Works is training the improvisers of tomorrow, and we want the voices on our stages to reflect our audiences and community. And we believe that diversity happens when one is intentional about it. In this spirit, we offer the Merlin Works Diversity Scholarship to foster diversity both onstage and off.
