YogaPlay: Yoga + Improv
This four-part series will combine improvisation games with yoga practice for a deep, playful experience of the present moment. It’s a class for yogis who are ready for new experiences of spontaneity, creativity, group energy, release of control and deep listening. It’s for improvisers who have ever described their experience on stage as “spiritual” and want to take that further.
The combination of these two art forms — yoga and improv — will culminate in meditation at the end of each class. Please come prepared to move and practice yoga — bringing your own mat and props as needed. No improv experience is necessary. Some yoga experience is recommended, though beginners are absolutely welcome. (4 meetings. Class size limit =16)

About Teacher Lauren Buck
Lauren Zinn Buck has been practicing yoga for 10 years and improvising for 15. She is fascinated by the natural connections between the two, even though on the outside they may look very different.
Lauren teaches vinyasa, hatha and prenatal yoga classes, grounded in alignment but ultimately moving awareness to the more subtle realm of the breath. She often combines simple sequencing with pranayama to create heat, increase difficulty and train the focus muscle in the mind — preparing it for meditation. While she offers challenging options, Lauren encourages students to make physical choices that allow them to connect more deeply to breath — which sometimes means modifying up, but often means modifying down. Every class ends with relaxation, pranayama and meditation.
Lauren initially trained with Don and Amba Stapleton at the Nosara Yoga Institute in Costa Rica and currently studies with Rod Stryker. She often fuses the teachings of yoga with her improv background to teach workshops in Yoga for Creativity and was interviewed by Yoga Journal (Italia) on this subject. She blogs about yoga, meditation, creativity and motherhood.
