Fusebox Fest Wrap Up

Fusebox was on a whole other level this year and I felt so lucky to get to participate.

Some highlights:

Reggie Watts. This guys is unique and amazing. He does a one man show that’s a mix of post modern stand up, hip-hop one man band, improviser and storyteller. He was just on late night w/ Jimmy Fallon last week. Go to minute 35: http://www.hulu.com/watch/69988/late-night-with-jimmy-fallon-fri-apr-24-2009

Show Me Tiger. My favorite local lesbian hip hop band of all time. They played one of the fun after parties at the Spider House.

The Method Gun. I got to see this much raved about piece by the Rude Mechanicals before they take it to New York to perform at PS 122. My favorite part for sure was the Tiger.

Erection. (It’s not what it sounds like) It was a solo dance piece by Pierre Rigal from France, exploring mans evolution from pre-crawling to walking. This piece had some truly innovative moments using a projector interplaying with the performer. Near the climax of the piece I was dumbfounded when the Rigal seemed to levitate. Seriously.

Thanks to all the Fusebox Festival organizers and sponsors for putting on such a great fest.
