On Saturday I met with Adam Blatner, who is researching a book about applied drama and applied improvisation. It covers a broad amount of topics, such as drama therapy, Theatre In Education, Drama in Business, Museum theatre, playback theatre and much more. It was fun to talk to him because his research is trying to connect many different things I do in my own work: teaching adults improv for personal growth and enjoyment, working with youth on issues-based theatre with improvisation, using improv for business theatre and roleplay, and using improv for workshops for corporate training. There are so many applications for this work that it can seem scattered, so I’m excited to see a cohesion start to emerge.
