Today I finished the first of the 2-day training sessions for the faculty at Austin Community College Department of Visual Communication. I have to say that it was a resounding success. My greatest compliment was that all 12 of the participants that came on Friday, came back again on Saturday at 9 AM in the morning to complete the training. Also, at the end of the workshop several people were buzzing about how on Monday in their next class they were going to use the skills and activities they learned in the workshop. People were also commenting on how it was a much more applicable and valuable career development training than they usually go to. Others were grateful to have a bonding experience with co-workers they don’t usually get to spend quality time with. I was proud to pass out the 150 page custom curriculum I had developed. ACC bound it very nicely so it looked extra sweet.
I felt so good afterward, I celebrated as only a Texan can . . . Rudy’s Barbecue (normally an occasion reserved once a year for out of town guests)
Next week is the second training session–hopefully it will go as well as the first. I learned a few tricks I’ll want to try next time.
