My first Improv 101 class is coming to a close this week. I’m really happy with the retention rate. I was more flexible with my curriculum than usual and I think that kept it more interesting for me and my students. The group has bonded and they’re having their first outside of class rehearsal today. Hope it goes well. Just like any specialty, good improv directors make it look easy.
I have my first Improv 201 class in a while starting in March. I really hope it fills up. It’s fun to go past the basics and start getting in to some scenework. My plan is to keep myself inspired and keep the class fun and not necessarily follow my set curriculum. This is improv after all. Maybe I’ll throw in some FastFood Stanislavsky or some objective work. I taught that in GGG rehearsal last week and it went over well.
